Monday Sequins
January 14, 2013

Top: Lela Rose x Target, Jacket: Mossimo via Target, Skirt: Asos, Shoes: Zara, Tights: Hue (similar), Belt: Forever 21
Must be awards season that’s getting me in the mood to dress up or maybe I just love a good sequin on a Monday? Either way, there’s nothing particularly edgy about this look at all but there is a very accessible sophistication. I think there is a really common misconception that uptown style comes with uptown price tags but it’s really more about training your eye to look for things, even in the juniors section, that feel more refined. That said, I can also see this skirt with a really worn in t-shirt and some edgier jewelry. That’s the beauty of dressing up nowadays…. You can unapologetically be whoever you want, when you want, where you want.

That skirt is INCREDIBLE! Oh my gosh I LOVE IT!
You are so cute! I LOVE all of this! You know, as I went shopping this past weekend, I was shocked to realize I didn’t have a lot of sequin anything in my wardrobe and your look today was a sign that I should start adding some sparkle to my closet.
Amazing, and what an amazing example you set! Looking “uptown” is a matter of style…not dollars
What a background! Wow! Love the look, too!
Classic elegance at an affordable price. This is why I love your blog!
Amazing skirt!

I wore a long black sequined skirt to my junior prom…I’m having flashbacks. Actually I think I still have it. Maybe I should see if it still fits, although that might be depressing
I love this look on you!

Definitely awards-season worthy and very Angelina Jolie-like! I love this look. It’d be fantastic dressed-down with some plaid or something casual.

This is so true!! A trained eye on what to look for can save you so much time, effort, and $$$. As a student I really learned to look everywhere for clothing, even thought it wasn’t really my kind of store/taste. You never know what you’ll find.
PS great blog btw, stumbled across it today.
There is never a wrong day for glitter. Love this!

Miss Elegance! You are naturally suited for being photographed in Spain and Italy! Your locations only enhance your design and taste!
yes, very nice.
@Carla, that’s around the Bethesda Terrace in Central Park.
Beautiful background and your words are so true – personal style is an expression of who and what you want to become in the moment. Price plays such a small role in this expression.
